The CaribouGroup is immensley proud to be a supporter and contributor to a number of Australian charities.
Earlier this year, Caribou was given an opportunity to help a community in one of the most impoverished nations in the world, the Philippines. Craig Thomas visited Bulacan in February this year, as part of a mission with Life Church.
Bulacan is immediately north of Manila. During my visit to Bulacan, I was faced with poverty like I've never
seen before. I mean, these families have nothing. It was an incredibly
emotional experience. You just wanted to help everyone you could.
Life
Church has built a school within the Bulacan province, which provides a
wonderful education for about 90 sponsered children aged between 4 and
7. This school has been operating now successfully for a number of
years and is considered to provide a better education for the children
than the private schools in the Province.
The children at the school all come from very poor areas around Bulacan. It is extremely difficult for their parents to earn a living and to provide their children with an education. Because of the financial support from many generous Australians, the children at the school are all sponsored, which enables the school to provide uniforms, food and a wonderful education.

Pictured above right is the founding missionary of the school, Papa Ken Gibson. Ken and his wife Maisie have dovoted the past 18 years of their lives to the Bulacan people. You can certainly see the love they have for Papa Ken on his visits.
Together with the financial support from Raptis Group and the Emandar Group, Caribou has pledged funds to build a new school at Patulo. Patulo has around 2000 families. The school will cater for approximately 75 children in the first year. The photo below shows the community centre, which will be converted into a school. The work involved will include tiling the floor, building up the walls, installing a toilet pit and decorating. Our money will also go towards the funding of the school teacher.
If you feel you would like to become involved with this community and its people, there are many opportunities. Financial assistance is always welcomed. However, you may like to donate clothes, toys and books to the schools. We are currently arranging to send up three large boxes of goodies, with thanks to Forex shipping.
